Munsirhat Polli Unnayan Songstha (MPUS) is a Non-Government Organisation (NGO) working for poor people, uplifting people's socio-economic condition. The organization started its journey in November 2005, and was registered with department of Social Service of the government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh in January 2008, NGO Affairs Bureau Prime Minister Office Bangladesh. Registration NO-3370 on 30 July 2023. with the devotion and active co-operation of some social workers who gained experience in the field of development. MPUS has been working for the men/women/children's in both the rural and urban areas since its formation

Vision: Strive for the rights of human being to live in peace and harmony in the society through resource mobilization and skill development of the poor, emphasizing the empowerment of disadvantaged women, men, children and adolescent giris

Mision

a) Improved livelihoods of disadvantaged men, women, children in urban and rural areas through motivation, developing people's organization, employment generation, primary health & education, training, resource mobilization, and implementation of other economic programs.

b) Establish human dignity, fraternity and social justice in the process of its development endeavors

Specific objectives:

·       Develop People's Organisation of disadvantaged women and empower them to lead the process of human and women rights.

·       Contribute to the realization of women rights through active participation at both local and national level

·       Aware the people against dowry, divorce and devil works of eve-teasing, acid throwing serual harassment of girts & women, human trafficking and other illegal acts in the society

·       Support local initiatives and ensure active participation of the rural poor sowards sustainable environmental health

·       Ensure food security for the poor through integrated food security program

·       Promote and protect child rights through integrated child rights program.

·       Increased income through asset generation, regeneration and multiplication

·       Promote Improved agriculture, modem practices of livestock (poultry, cow and goat) rearing

·       Income generation of the poor for poverty alleviation

·       Support sustainable livelihoods practices of the poor, especially, the people in difficult areas.

·       Promote social movement to create a positive attitude towards differeritly able persons and to ensure the participation of differently able people towards establishment of their rights and social justice.

·       Support mobilisation of local and external resources through strengthening local governance for the rebuilding of underprivileged villages into resourceful center

·       Ensure sustainable environmental health through safe water, sanitation and improved hygiene practices in the community.

·       Develop capacity of local government to ensure access to resources by the poor

·       Support sustainable livelihoods practices of Hilly and Coastal people

10 Experiences of project implementation:

Munsirhat Polli Unnayan Songstha (MPUS) has more than 4 years of experience in implementing integrated development program on different sectors including a) Food Security Agriculture and Livelihoods, b) Water and Sanitation, c) Capacity Building and training, d) Human Rights & Legal Awareness Program, e) Combating Violence Against Women & Children, f) Combating Trafficking in Women and Children etc However, MPUS has been gathering skill and special expertise through smooth implementation of following program activities in its working area

MPUS has been implementing programs on vegetables cultivation, fish-production (Fishery). poultry rearing training, aware the people against bad-impacts of under-aged marriage, dowry polygamy and poly-marriage, addiction to drug and its ultimate result etc. Also implementing different types of other activity like 1) primary education, ii) helping the poor, iii) identification and taping of available resources around them etc

Details of activities and achievements:

a) Assistance to differently able or handicapped people and awareness rising. The purpose of this activity is to improve socio-economic status of the poor households having differently able persons by fighting superstitions and enabling them to turn into resources through appropriate training. So far 800 households have been served

b) Livestock development training and assistance: The purpose of such training is to enhance economic status of the unemployed people through income-generating activities, create job opportunities for youths as well as to meet the demand for animal protein. About 1500 households received such services.

c) Training on Skill development and awareness building The purpose of such activity is to empower the disadvantaged and vulnerable women through enhancing their knowledge and skill and reducing beliefs on superstition Around 3000 women received such training in Fulgazi Upazila

d) Awareness building on health issues: The purpose of this activity is to improve the lives and livelihoods of the poor people through awareness building on health issues of their children (regarding immunization, balanced diet, importance of Vitamin A, D, C and their sources in vegetables and fruits) and their own. About 2000 households received health services

e) Water and Sanitation: The purpose of this program is to aware the poor people to claim their rights over government services delivered for them and to their access to safe drinking water and hygienic latrines at their households. Also to aware people about different low-c options of hygienic latrine that they construct and maintain of their own. About 5000 households are aware of such services

Agricultural Extension: This is an important and effective program of our organization to encourage the farmers to update them on modem agriculture for enhanced production as well as contribute to uplift their economic status. About 150 tarmer's households have been brought under this program

9) Family Planning: This activity facilitates the government initiatives for population control in rural areas. This program promotes the message "One is better and more than two is never to aware the poor people about use of family planning methods

h) Awareness campaign on HIV/AIDs: This activity is designed to aware people about deadiness of HIV/AIDs and to refrain from attack of such diseases. They are aware of the causes of HIV/AIDS and the methods to keep one-self refrain from their attack

1) Youth program. This activity aims at providing training to youths of the poor households on different income-generating (IG) activities as well as to make health conscious for buliding a better future

11. Project Monitoring and Evaluation:

Munsirhat Polli Unnayan Songstha (MPUS) has three levels of project monitoring. First level involves Project Coordinators/Project Managers conducting periodic monitoring of Project activities based work plan. Second level monitoring involves the M&E Cell composed of

management/senior level staff doing monitoring at the field level. The M&E Cell is composed of experienced people who come from the management level of MPUS Project monitoring is done on a scheduled basis Project evaluation is also done by the M&E Cell wherein various methodologies are used All reports done by the members of the M&E Cell goes to the Senior Management who does the checking and provides technical input on report writing. After checking the draft copy, the report goes to the General Secretary for review and comments All final reports are forwarded to the project offices for immediate action. The reporting system of MPUS to funding sources is based on the requirement of each donor Report submission could be on a quarterly, bi-annual, and annual basis. The 3rd level monitoring is conducted by the General Secretary or Executive Board member on a need basis

12. Conclusion:

Activities and development program of Munsirhat Polli Unnayan Songstha (MPUS) has already stirred in the development initiatives of the poor people. As a result, they are coming up with many innovative and effective development agendas for the total development of the community But there is resource constraint of Munsirhat Polli Unnayan Songstha (MPUS) to response to the needs. Therefore wholehearted support of the local elite people, government, donor organization and the foreign development partners is to be solicited by the management of Munsirhat Polli Unnayan Songstha (MPUS)
